Getting Ready for the Dallas Quilt Show 2018

Just a little crazy and behind on posts here. Time is counting down for the Dallas Quilt Show at Market Hall and I'm still dyeing fabric, finishing a quilt, making flyers, organizing my inventory and oh yes, coming down with Bronchitis. Luckily, I ran to the Dr. and got a steroid shot and meds before it went too far and I'm on the mend. Several days in bed didn't help my stress level, but hey, what happens happens and what gets done, gets done. Right?

I finally finished quilting one of my quilts for the Dallas Quilt Show yesterday. Tomorrow I will get it trimmed up and put the facing, sleeve and label on it. (Today I get to go celebrate grandkids with a birthday party! Cake!!!!)

So, come to Dallas, March 9-11, 2018, and see the Dallas Quilt Show at Market Hall. I promise you will love the show and come by my booth, say "Hello", shop for fabric, clothes and notions and sign up for a dye class!

Check out the Calendar of Classes and Workshops page for 2018 Dye Workshop dates. Fun times in the Dye Studio!

Quilting Classes TBD! Stay tuned.

Happy Creating!

Getting Ready for a Busy Dye Weekend!

I made a wonderful trip to United Notions/Moda yesterday and bought fabric to dye and other needed items to sell and for the Studio. Today, I'm washing all the PDF (yes, I wash Prepared for Dyeing Fabric) and sorting it into size sections. Most of the fabric will be for ice dyeing, but one bolt is designated for Shibori dyeing. And yes, the piles are labeled and I just pray, no one comes in and messes them up.
Oh, why do I wash Prepared for Dyeing Fabric? Because I know there are probably still starches and other things in the fabric, plus I don't like that crease down the middle. The crease doesn't come out with just a rinse and dry, it has to be washed out.

Fun days ahead! What's on your weekend plan?

Creatively,

Jules

Do You Schedule Your Week?

Do you schedule your creative time each week? Each day? Each month?

Do you have things on your calendar that you routinely do every week? This is what I try to do. I have days that I have dyeing fabric and quilting scheduled on my calendar and try and I mean try not to book anything else on those days and times. Some days I can't get around it and have to schedule a doctor's appointment or the washer repair dude, but I try my best to keep my schedule. Otherwise, I may not get anything done.

So, tell me, let's have a discussion about how you manage your creative time.

Creatively,

Jules

Sunday Fun Day

So what are you doing on this Sunday Fun Day? Are you getting ready for the Super Bowl? Or is the Puppy Bowl more your speed? I turned on the dog shows for my little guy, but Oreo wasn't interested. So he is cuddled up on the bed with me while I work.

Personally, I've been out in the Dye Studio and put fabric and dyed vests into wash and put more on to dye. Now that this task is complete, I'm working on listening to some podcasts for marketing strategies.

So, tell me, what is on your schedule today?

Creatively,

Jules

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

What's feeding your creative spirit at the end of the week? Plans for the weekend? Tidy up your creative space? Just a regular day?

Share with me, what's your Friday like?

Today I'm watching the cutest 2 year old EVER! Our daughter is chair of the Father's Daughter Dance at the elementary school, so she is busy setting up and I'll be busy chasing this crazy boy around. I'll work on Etsy shop listings while he naps.

Yes, he is going to dip his salami in his aunt's Dr. Pepper - I told you, he's a crazy boy!

For 2018 I want to start something new. Let's have a daily conversation about what is feeding our creative time. Are you working on a project with a deadline? Are you cleaning your creative space? Are you designing a new project? Are you stuck? Are you getting ready to submit a quilt or project to a show? Are you learning new techniques? I want to hear, I want to learn and I want us to join in conversation.

Join me here every day or join the conversation on my Facebook page. Let's keep the conversation and networking active.

Rules of engagement:

Rule #1 - As I tell my grandkids - Have Fun with the conversation

How Do You Balance Your Time?

Let's Start a Conversation

What's feeding your creative spirit today?

Besides Pilates, I'm not sure how much time I will get to spend in the studio today. It's a busy day with Dr. appointments, pilates and then the monthly guild meeting of the Quilter's Guild of Dallas. I would really like to spend some in the studio working on small art quilts, but I think I will just have to be happy with petit point while at the doctors office.

This picture is of ice dyed fabric that is in my Etsy shop. Click on the caption for a link to the fabric.

What creative groups are you connected with?
